The Place of Gold Finally Falls

So my darlings everyone is saying things like "I can not believe that SA's oldest soap is coming to an end! Oow the end of an era" and all that... But is any one out there still watching? Didn't the Place of Gold lose it's shine and become a rusty hue years ago? Or is that just me?

Either way one good thing that came out of Egoli ending (for me anyway) is that while I was doing my thing and hanging out around the All Access studio I caught a glimpse of one of SA's leading ladies - and while she was getting her make-up done I popped in to have a chat with her. It's safe to say that Shaleen Surtie Richards is fabulous! What a wicked sense of humour she has. There's a video on the All Access website that you can watch to find out what she never leaves home with out.

Fashion Frenzy!

Oy Ve! What a busy few weeks I've had, why? I hear you ask... ('bout time, I though you never would!) let me tell you - it's only been the biggest and oldest organized fashion event in the world!

That's right the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York is hailed as the Mecca of everything high-fashion, stylish, and I simply LOVE it! And not just because it's the place where everyone who's anyone from: famous designers, models, fashion journalists, actors, and celebrities in the business all congregate, although that certainly helps;)

This event gets better every year, and this year was simply sensational! Everyone who was there wanted to get their hands on an invitation to Arise Magazine’s “African Collective Part III". African designers were under the spotlight and sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in fashion. (A few personal favourites of mine: Anna Sui, DKNY and Calvin Klein) oh yes they were there impressing the 100,000 audiences from around the world!

It was simply amazing, truly wonderful work from the African continent was showcased and turned many heads as it came streaming down the runway.

So that my darlings is what has been keeping me away from my Mac, but I'm back in the blogosphere and ready to regal you with tales of my adventures.

'Till next time stay fabulous!

A Feast For Your Eyes!

Well my lovelies what a busy weekend it's been! I don't know about the rest of you, but I was swanning around, looking absolutely fabulous (if I do say so myself... And make no mistake, I do!) at the J&B Met. What a sexy soiree it was! People were dressed in their designer best and guess who i got to sneak a peek at, none other than Cindy Nel and her hunk of a hubby.

This one has something for everyone, including the dashing Jason Greer!

Now that's stylish! Unlike some of the atrocities that walked down the red carpet at this year's Grammy Awards - not to mentioned any names but Rihanna what were you thinking?! Being peppermint cream personified is never a good idea honey.

That my darlings is some free fashion advice from me to you, use it abuse it... and be sure never to loose it;)

Celebrity Meltdown on Santa Carolina

Well I was waiting to see which prima-donna would fold first - who knew four survivors would have fallen before the fourth episode! Oh the games have begun and I'm in my element!

Christina Storm was the first to win my 'The Biggest Prima Donna on Santa Carolina Award' after she walked off the island on the first episode... Did she forget that she had a little girl when she agreed to do the show? Or perhaps she, like a few of the skeptics out there, thought there would be some pampering once the cameras stopped rolling... Fail!

But the best part of episode one my lovelies was that the drama didn't stop there. Christina had walked away voluntarily so the tribe still had to vote someone else off the Island.

This leads us to big man Granite's departure, which was a bit more believable. He had an accident out on the coral and got himself a nasty cut that resulted in a mild infection. His tribe-mates claim to have felt sorry for him (but i suspect they followed Gigi's line of thought which was that he would eat more than anyone else and do less in his injured state). They joined forces and voted him off the island, proving the age-old adage 'the bigger you are the harder you fall'.

So that's how episode one saw two contestants leaving the show. I thought things would calm down and one survivor a week would do the walk of shame... But again, I was wrong!

In episode two Jub Jub seemed to spend a lot of time thinking up excuses... er reasons... as to why he should leave the game. He didn't seem to have the proverbial balls to just say he was over it, instead he told everyone and anyone who would listen about his infected jewels, (if you live anywhere but under a rock you must have seen the newspaper headlines and the trending Twitter topics).

The story of his pickled package broke after he was told by the island medics that the tiny coral cut he got wouldn't get infected... You have to admire his resourcefulness though no cameraman in his or her right mind would ask him to drop his rods to inspect his... well... rod. Jub Jub decided that the best thing for him to do was to go home, look after his (infected) manhood, family and career.

Seeing as he left the island voluntarily his tribe still had to vote someone out. Cindy Nell Roberts put herself under the spotlight by being the quintessential independent, self-sufficient Survivor. The other people on her tribe saw her as a bit of a threat and joined forces to make sure it was her torch that got extinguished at the second tribal council.

So that my faithful readers is how no less than FOUR Survivors have fallen in two episodes! I can't wait to see what happens next week. Some South African celebrities aren't as tough as they seem. Which celebrity are you backing in this season's Survivor? post a comment and I'll let you know who my money's on.

Matt Damon - Local Is Lekker!

Matt Damon seems to have taken a shine to SA and added our brightly coloured flag to the collection on his jacket. That kind of localism is lekker, but do you know what's even better? Matt Damon's Afrikaans accent, that's what!

Matt Damon plays local rugby hero, Francois Pienaar along side Morgan Freeman (who is playing Nelson Mandela) in Clint Eastwood's latest film offering called, Invictus (everyone who's anyone is simply raving about it - and did you like how many celebs I strung into one sentence. I'm good like that). The movie tells the story of Nelson Mandela's life and how the Springboks winning the 1995 Rugby World Cup 'helped heal a nation'.

I may watch rugby for all the 'wrong' reasons;) but even I was impressed by the trailer on Youtube. When you check it out you'll be blown away by Freeman's portrayal of Mandela, and you'll get to hear Damon's Afrikaans accent. You can then decide if it's believable or not...

Is There a Dr in the House!?

Goodness gracious me, I think I need medical attention - I'm burning up over here! Although now that I think about it, it could be because I'm surrounded by some of the best looking people on the set of Private Practice!

That's right folks you read that correctly, I'm still swanning around and living it up in London, while the fabulous Tammy-Anne from All Access does all the hard work. While she was busy interviewing the sensational Tim Daly on the set of Private Practice, I was getting trigger-happy and shutter-snappy. And now you get to reap the rewards of my efforts.

I present to you the gorgeous, Tim Daly...
