Matt Damon - Local Is Lekker!

Matt Damon seems to have taken a shine to SA and added our brightly coloured flag to the collection on his jacket. That kind of localism is lekker, but do you know what's even better? Matt Damon's Afrikaans accent, that's what!



Matt Damon plays local rugby hero, Francois Pienaar along side Morgan Freeman (who is playing Nelson Mandela) in Clint Eastwood's latest film offering called, Invictus (everyone who's anyone is simply raving about it - and did you like how many celebs I strung into one sentence. I'm good like that). The movie tells the story of Nelson Mandela's life and how the Springboks winning the 1995 Rugby World Cup 'helped heal a nation'.


I may watch rugby for all the 'wrong' reasons;) but even I was impressed by the trailer on Youtube. When you check it out you'll be blown away by Freeman's portrayal of Mandela, and you'll get to hear Damon's Afrikaans accent. You can then decide if it's believable or not...

Is There a Dr in the House!?

Goodness gracious me, I think I need medical attention - I'm burning up over here! Although now that I think about it, it could be because I'm surrounded by some of the best looking people on the set of Private Practice!

That's right folks you read that correctly, I'm still swanning around and living it up in London, while the fabulous Tammy-Anne from All Access does all the hard work. While she was busy interviewing the sensational Tim Daly on the set of Private Practice, I was getting trigger-happy and shutter-snappy. And now you get to reap the rewards of my efforts.

Jealous Down!

OMG what a week! Guess who's been jet-setting with the wonderful Tammy-Anne from All Access, yours truly of course! (I think she may have even looked at me once) but it was hard to tell, because I was too busy drooling over the hardbodied hunks that she was interviewing.

Ladies brace yourselves! I could tell you that Benni McCarthy pitched up looking ultra suave sporting his 'casual' look just right... Or that it was actually Taye Diggs who knew his Armani from his McQueen, I could tell you that... But I think I'll just show you instead.

The Tribe Has Spoken

Anyone who has been reading my blog lately will know that I simply can't wait for the news to break on who will be setting sail for the deserted island in the middle of the India Ocean, to be part of the new Celebrity Survivor SA!

Alas, i have yet to 'overhear' a full list of potential contestants from the people i know, who are in the know... But I do know that Nico Panagio will definitely be on the show!

This multi-talented actor, TV presenter, *hotty-hotster* won't be joining the ranks of the celebrities who will have to forgo their high-flying lifestyles while they're on the island. Instead we'll be guaranteed to see him until the very end as he will be hosting the show! (Have i mentioned that i simply can't wait:)

Nico says being given the chance to be part of one of the most popular reality shows in the world is a dream come true. “I love Survivor, and even entered as a competitor in the past. I’ll never be able to test my Survivor skills, but the upside is that my presence in the show is guaranteed all the way to the end! Jokes aside, this is amazing and I’m ready for the adventure of a lifetime.”

I'm sure my faithful followers would have figured out that the previous seasons host, Mark Bayly is currently wrapped up in one of my other favourite shows, All Access hence there needing to be a new presenter. I think Nico Panagio with his rugged good looks is going to fill those shoes, just fine.

Splitsville

Local celebs Danny K and Lee-Ann Liebenberg have split up! SA's so-called 'golden couple' have called off their engagement and ended their six year relationship. The two are sticking to their story that they will always love and respect each other but marriage just wasn't for them... Well that was the general gist of the joint statement that was issued by J23 Management for Danny K and Head Models for Lee-Ann Liebenberg.

The full statement was actually as follows:

“Danny and Lee-Ann have sadly ended their engagement.

Unfortunately they have hardly spent any time together since their engagement last year, due to their individual work commitments locally and abroad and the constant traveling, understandably, put a lot of strain on the relationship.

Danny and Lee-Ann will always have love and respect for each other and wish each other only the best."

So there you have it folks despite having won a number of awards as the most popular celeb couple all that glitter's isn't always gold, and Danny's back on the market!

Sneak a sneak

Ok, so last week after SA Survivor started making waves in the local media, I used my All Access tricks and snuck in to M-Net. Here's what I can tell you for definite from the corridors of entertainment: of the 350 celebs approached by M-Net, quite a number have said yes, and M-Net is still deliberating who will fill the 12 spots.

Well. What do you make of THAT!?! I really hope they start to give us some names SOON - Rodger needs his Survivor fix I tell ya!

Survivor Goss!

Just yesterday I was musing about the new SA celebrity Survivor, and it seems today there's news about a possible contestant!
Miss Khanyisile Mbau herself seems to be of the opinon that she'll be in the new installment of the popular show:

"Good Morning. Back in SA, and will soon be on Savivour South Africa (celeb season).. *excited*"

But is the lady's Tweet to be believed? M-Net says not. When Heat magazine contacted M-Net's publicity department, this is what they had to say:
"We have approached 350 people, but no-one has been confirmed yet". Hmmm, the plot thickens.

Either way, Khanyi was on my list yesterday and I'm totally rooting for her!
Here's hoping we get some news soon - maybe The Only Rodger (ie, moi!) will have to pay a sneak visit to M-net soon. It worked with All Access, why not with Survivor? ;)

Pinch me!

I'm dreaming! Not only has one of my favourite realities been announced to return, but it's packed to the brim with all the SA celebs we love to LURVE! Yes, Survivor is set to hit your TV screens early next year.
I'm sooooo excited! They haven't announced yet exactly who the celebs are going to be, but this can only be the start of something FUN. And they're doing it for charity "nogal".

Here's what i've found so far:

"They are used to VIP treatment and basking in the limelight, but how easy will it be for local celebs to completely sacrifice their lifestyles for a good cause? Will these stars succeed in separating themselves from their miracle eye creams, designer clothes, Egyptian cotton, flashy cars, fabulous friends and attention-grabbing gigs? Will they be able to rough it up and execute a devious game-plan for up to a month to become South Africa’s next “Sole Survivor”?"

How sad. Another example of plastic surgery gone (and going) wrong. Rose McGowan was the lovely, if troubled, sister from Charmed, who also happened to date Marilyn Manson (we're *not* judging, remember?) and hobbled around on one leg in Tarantino's Grindhouse - all with an unmistakable sex appeal. Anyway, below is the lovely Miss Gowan from her Charmed days, as we like to remember her, and then Miss Gowan just last week, showing all the signs of a quack who must be sued. So sad.

Ah, wedded bliss

You can't argue with love when it happens spur of the moment. Not even for a pre-nup. Khloe and Lamar's much publicized fiasco wedding has now been finalized after the two parties agreed on a pre-nup that would save Lamar's dosh from Khloe's klutches.

I'm not judging, but read the details here. Did I mention this is all going to be a reality show on E Entertainment? Must have slipped my mind...

Heinz in the House

Heinz Winckler is back from L.A. and he was recently caught at a swanky club in Jo'burg doing a photo-shoot for his latest album. As always I did my civic duty to my adoring fans;) (that's you my dear readers) and I snapped some pics of this homegrown hottie with my camera phone (so excuse the quality... But I do what I can with what I have).

Chris Brown Is A Douche Bag!

Five months after Chris Brown assaulted the gorgeous Rihanna a judge sentenced him to five years probation. This sentence included a stay-away order, this means that his royal doucheness can't contact Rihanna (either in person, via a third party or on the phone) and he has to do six months community service, let's hope he doesn't over exert himself.

Is it just me or is everyone else going WTF!? Six months community service after assaulting another person! How'd he like to be smacked around by his boyfriend whilst serving time in jail!? But such is the sentence of a hip-hop celeb.

Chris Brown released an apology which I got from Youtube for you to check out,



How valiant and sincere. There are two sides to every story and legal expert Peter T. Haven has said to MTV that Brown's sentence "Is not a walk in the park" and that doing jail time would have been "easier and cleaner" you can check out the rest of his obsequious, 'pro-Brown' argument here.

Brumilda Joins The Walk of Fame

The long running Afrikaans soapie Egoli has become a bit of a South African institution (pity it's coming to an end soon) and Brumilda van Rensburg (who plays Louwna) is one of SA's leading ladies. She was recently inducted into the Walk of Fame at the gorgeous Foxwood House which is neatly tucked away in one of Johannesburg's lush suburbs... And guess who was there to see it all - that's right, Yours Truly!

I was right there when the Rolls Royce pulled up and Brumilda met her adoring fans and colleagues. It was a great day out I'll have you know and if you don't believe me check out my Youtube video clip.

Oh my word! I have a new favourite celeb! I know I'm not supposed to but once you've taken a look at these fabulous photos I'm sure you'll all agree.

I recently got to have a quick chat to one of South Africa's most well know songbirds, Ms Johnston of Mango Groove fame. That woman has so much style and class - how many people can you think of who can pull off purple heels!? She certainly can.

Those heels weren't even the highlight! She was rocking a gorgeous little giraffe inspired handbag... Being the gentleman that I am I didn't delve into it's depths but I did snap a quick pic for you all to see.


How fabulous is that!? Ms J told me that Mango Groove are preparing to release their first album in 14 years!!! Oh how I love a good comeback - power to them!

Jen Su's Talks 'The Funeral of All Time'

The fabulous Jen Su recently took some time off from mingling with the who's who of Hollywood and came to South Africa. While she was here she flitted from studio set to studio set so I got some of my friends in high places to ask her about what has been dubbed as 'the funeral of all time', well a funeral that had more viewers than that of Lady Di's must have been!

Lerato Motau's favourites

Lerato Motau of Egoli fame was recently on All Access and I got some of my peeps on the ground to ask her a thing or two about 'soapie land'. Imagine having to prepare for some of the over-the-top scenarios that would come your way if you were a high powered villain on one of SA's longest running soaps...

Well Lerato takes the over-the-top suggestions in her stride. Check them out!

And that's not where it ends my lovelies. They went on to delve into the deep psyche of her character TJ by finding out what some of Lerato's favourite things are, and how they compare to TJ's. Hello my lovelies

I wanted to bring you some hot goss from Hollywood - but what a slooooow Monday!

It seems that the only thing anyone can talk about is Kendra Wilkinson's wedding episode on her show. Boring! Is it just me or does anyone else think that Playboy Bunnies shouldn't get tied down and hitched... Where's the booty-shaking, shot-taking fun in that!?

In other news Kim Kardashian got Twitter happy while on a flight home over the weekend. She used the time tweet about how she can't wait to enjoy a 'week heavily working out' and then shortly after that, she continued to punt her workout regime by asking everyone to join in with her and her sister Khloe by getting a copy of their DVD. Moral of the story ladies and gents? If you want a booty that turns heads like Kim's does you need to work for it - no silicone padding there my friends;)

Despite all of the happy tweets about going home, starting boot camp and loving being in the air, the airline lost her luggage. Huh! And you thought I was full of sound and noise signifying nothing! Lookit me! I got on to the set of All Access (erm, yeah, thats another story) and had a few moments with Mark and Pabi. Luckily i know someone who knows someone, so they were kind enough to answer some questions for me. Check it out:

CSI Miami Is Smouldering!

Looks like the already smouldering cast of CSI Miami are going to get a little hotter...

Already pumped full of eye-candy (Delko, Wolf, and - for some - Horatio) the CSI Miami team are about to get another boost of hunkiness. According to CSIFiles.com, Invasion's Eddie Cibrian is set to join the cast in the eighth season. Cibrian's character is an as-yet-unnamed officer who transfer to the unit from Los Angeles.

Besides Invasion, Cibrian will be familiar to fans of Third Watch and Sunset Beach.

How anyone gets any work done in this frivolously good looking CSI crew is anyone's guess.

Time To Talk To Tatum!

You will all be thrilled to know that I've been a busy little bee lately, getting the gos and swooning about on the social scene - as I do.

I got a tip off from a good friend who's in the know that the gorgeous Miss SA, Tatum Keshwar was going to be doing a shoot with some of the Binnelanders stars, so I put on my Sunday best and headed off to see for myself.... I must say she's even more fabulous in person and her taste is impeccable! She seemed rather taken with the new man on Binnelanders Karl Thaning

Who is this new face on Binnelanders, and what is his interest with one of the most beautiful woman in the country!? Well my darlings we can only guess but Miss SA was a little bit more forthcoming as the day wore on. Check out her answers to some frivolous questions that I posed to her inbetween shoots.

A) I'm going to mentally psych myself up for the competition. Positive internal dialogue! (I have a degree in psychology, so I'm going to try and use all those tools to my benefit!)

A) I'll get crucified if I answer that! There's no diplomatic way around it.

The King is Dead, Long Live the King!

The music industry has lost their: ‘king of pop’, excess, moon-walking and phenomenal forward thinking music videos. Michael Jackson led a life that was closely scrutinized by the public and Twitter fanatics have been filling the airwaves with Tweets of Disbelief. @PabiMoloi sent one out saying “I was just dancing to his music right now. We were saying how legendary he is. It's sad. RIP Michael Jackson”.

It is a huge loss to the music industry so instead of getting lost in his life story take a moment to remember why he earned himself the title ‘King of Pop’.

Jason Greer Goes Glitzy

You must recognise Jason Greer and not only from this fine photo...No? I'll give you a clue: he used to host the series The Loot (on that rather obscure channel…GO I think it was) and now he gets to be one of the field presenters on the glitzy, grown-up show, All Access. What does that mean for you? A weekly dose of a dishy hunk that’s what!

Cast your mind back to the time when the SABC could afford continuity presenters, Jason was one of the guys that introduced the shows –even though those days are gone Greer is still gracing our screens.

All Access – You Can Have It To!

So I was talking to the who’s who and I heard that there's a new show on M-Net called, All Access, and it's fab!

I'm always on the guest list for hot and happening spots but most mere mortals don't crack the nod, so now you folks at home can see what people like me get up to when we hit the town!

I was hanging out with the gorgeous Pabi Maloi and super-sexy Mark Bayly (omg his voice!) on set, and with a little help from my friends, happened to get my hands on this video of them being interviewed in their make-up rooms. Take a look at Mark inadvertently dissing Pabi for using Twitter, LMAO!

New Twins On The Block

Matthew Broderick may not be as incredibly good looking as, say, Sex In The City's Mr Big, but his and Sarah Jessica Parker's new-born twins are even cutter than a brand new pair of Manolo Blahniks.

The twin sisters were born on Monday (22 Jun) at 03:58pm in Ohio. The Parker-Brodericks used a surrogate mother to help them expand their family (and- luckily for the little girls - their aging gene pool - IMHO SJP is no oil painting, but her fabulous style means we don't dwell).

They already have a six year old son named James Wilkie Broderick who is now the proud older brother of Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick and Tabitha Hodge Broderick (I know you're wondering because I was too, but Elwell and Hodge are family names). The Parker-Brodericks have been quoted saying "The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon". Wouldn't you be too if you skipped out the giving birth part?

Congratulations to the new parents, may their little girls grow up to be as blog worthy as they are!

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Phil Spector has been in the news a lot recently what with him facing a murder charge and all. For me though, more interesting than his obviously warped temper and happy trigger finger is that bizarre space on top of his head where he practices what must be a beloved hobby: topiary.

Here's a look at the hair pieces Spector has been sporting over the last few years both in and out of court, and then the coup de grace - his final mug shot after being convicted of the murder of Lana Clarkson and jailed for 19 years.

...or is this story just a little bit tacky?
Two weeks ago heavy weight boxer Mike Tyson's little girl dies in a freak accident on a treadmill. The world is shocked and horrified as the story plays out on the news, making a family's tragedy global.

And that's pretty much where my sympathies end. The man went and got freakin' married yesterday! For the third time! Not 2 weeks after losing his daughter? WTF!?
And he didn't just get married mind you, it was in VEGAS to a woman named Lakiha Spicer. I kid you not.

Now tell me, who gets married two weeks after their child has died in a horrific exercise machine accident? And it's not as if there were enormous plans made in advance that just *had* to be kept - it's VEGAS you idiot! Every man and his E.T. get married there at the drop of a hat every day. You couldn't have waited another month or two?

Tyson just keeps those headlines rolling on. Now I'm waiting for the announcement that she was pregnant...
